THREE boys broke into Salisbury Football Club's stadium and went on a damage spree which costed more than £2k to repair.

The teenagers, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to burglary and criminal damage at Salisbury Youth Court on April 30.

They were each given referral orders of between four and nine months and ordered to pay £200 each in compensation.

The trio gained access to the Raymond McEnhill stadium, in Old Sarum, on April 6 last year.

The court heard how the teens broke into the clubhouse and caused damage to many rooms, resulting in more than £2,000 in repair and cleaning bills.

Before they were disturbed by a staff member, the boys threw drinks around, smashed plates and bottles of alcohol before stealing several football kits.

Detective constable Martyn Powell, at Wiltshire Police, said: “The result from court will cause the three involved to work with key workers so that they can be steered away from further criminality.

“The compensation will provide at least some compensation towards the damage caused.”
