A CRASH between a van and a car left the A303 closed for hours.

The crash, involving a Volkswagen Transporter and a Mini Cooper, happened just before 3pm on the A303 westbound, one mile east of Stonehenge on Saturday, May 4.

Both vehicles were recovered and a man was reported for driving without due care and attention.

Part of the A303 was closed for hours, eastbound between the A360 Longbarrow roundabout and the A345 Countess roundabout.

This was the third crash on the A303 in the space of a week, and comes just days after a man in his 80s died in a head-on crash.

A spokesperson from Wiltshire Police told the Journal: "We attended a two-vehicle collision on the A303 westbound one mile east of Stonehenge before 3pm yesterday.

"Recovery was arranged for both vehicles – a VW Transporter and Mini Cooper. One male driver was reported for driving without due care and attention."
