A CAR was found engulfed in flames in the layby of a busy dual carriageway after a late-night fire.
The incident happened on the A338 Spur Road at around 8pm last night, March 19.
The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.
A spokesperson for DWFRS said: “We were called to the A338 Spur Road at Matchams between Ashley Heath roundabout and the Blackwater junction at 8.13pm last night (19 March) for a car well alight in a layby.
“Two crews attended, from Ringwood and Springbourne, and two breathing apparatus wearers used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
No injuries were reported and a cause is yet to be identified.
Police officers also attended the incident.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 8.13pm on Tuesday 19 March 2024 of a vehicle fire on the A338 approximately one mile south of the Ashley Heath Roundabout.
“Officers attended to assist and road closures were put in place as the fire service dealt with the incident.
“We left the scene at around 10.25pm.”
The burnt-out car was left covered in police tape on the side of the road on Wednesday morning.
