AN INVESTIGATION is ongoing after a stack of speakers fell from the stage at a gig in the City Hall.

From the Jam, a tribute band covering The Jam songs, were performing in Salisbury on Saturday night.

During the show, a stack of speakers on the side of the stage "toppled over" and fell into an area where security were standing, one witness reported.

Paramedics attended just before 10pm and treated one woman with a head injury, who was taken to Salisbury District Hospital.

The band briefly stopped the performance to make sure the crowd were okay.

A spokesman for Wiltshire Council said: "“We are grateful to everyone on duty at the time of this incident for the professional and swift way they dealt with the matter and the support that was provided to the individual affected.

“We cannot comment further on the incident that occurred, as it is subject to a full investigation. We need to ensure that the risk of something like this ever happening again is minimised.”

Robin Weatherston, who attended the concert, said it did not ruin the evening, adding: "It was a fantastic crowd and trouble free concert, and all dealt with very professionally.

"I was very impressed by From the Jam and City Hall staff.

"A huge commendation to them all."
