Trophy cabinet on order

Andover girl racer Dawn Boyd was at Oulton Park last weekend and at the half way point in the season the pressure was on to continue the good results.

She had not raced on the full Oulton Park circuit before, so for extra practice she entered her Golf Gti in the non championship Toyo Tyres Saloons race for allcomers.

She made a good start and used it as a full speed practice and had a great battle and won her class to receive the third trophy of the season.

The Golf Championship race was with clear skies and everyone got away cleanly.

Into the third corner, the previous race had left oil on the track and the dust left to soak up the spill had not been swept away and the full grid of 30 Golfs all disappeared into a cloud.

Dawn started eighth in class but made up places in the first few laps. After lap four it began to rain and the pace slowed even more as the drivers struggled to stay on track and several went off in the slippery conditions. Dawn made a couple of excursions to the grass and slid 80 yards into one corner before taking it sideways. She made up 11 places and finished fourth in class and 15th overall resulting in her being placed third in class points.

Next is another long trip up north to Cadwell Park on August 21, where she hopes to continue the good results and confirm the reason to buy a trophy cabinet.
