100th birthday celebrations for Ivy
CENTENARIAN Ivy Guscott had a special visitor to help her celebrate her 100th birthday on Wednesday.
Chris Wain became a Salisbury Journal reporter in 1960, having been a soldier in Cyprus during the EOKA emergency. After reading History at Oxford (Brasenose) he was Defence Correspondent for
Southern Television, ITN and the BBC.
He covered numerous conflicts including Vietnam, Yom Kippur, the Cyprus invasion and the Falklands War. Before retirement he was the BBC’s Air & Transport Correspondent.
He is a Salisbury Cathedral steward, an elected hospital governor, and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
