Two-year-old Mellissa Hood, known as Missy, who has cerebral palsy, is in America for dorsal rhizotomy surgery to be able to walk on her flat feet after a campaign by her parents raised the £50,000 needed to fund the surgery. Here her mother Lucy writes about their experiences.

Missy making great progress

Day 3 (Post op day 1) - Missy was very sleepy and the effects of the anaesthetic was wearing off, which made her very touchy, to make her more comfortable they sedated her which allowed her to rest a little better.

An emotional day

WE have arrived in St Louis and have settled in well to the Residece inn in Downtown St Louis.
