Help - I have to make decisions. What should I have for breakfast? What colour duvet set matches the curtains? Who knows! Having choice can be great, but too much choice drives motorists potty. Look at the evidence.
Mercedes-Benz, for example, manufacture a vast range of models. There is the A-Class, B-Class, C-Class, CLC Coupé, E-Class, SLK-Class, (keep reading), CLK-Class, M-Class, R-Class, CLS-Class, GL-Class, S-Class, SL-Class, CL-Class, Viano, and finally the mighty SLR. Well done for reading that lot. Motorists then choose an engine, interior trim, colour, and sometimes body style – estate or saloon. How much choice do we need?
This is only one manufacturer's current range. Citroen produce eighteen models, and Vauxhall manufacture eleven. Years ago, most 'everyday' manufactures produced a small, medium, and large car. There were a few four-wheel-drives and some MPV's. Perhaps we should return to this simple time, before excessive choice melts our brains.
