Just a bit of a moan about our wonderful government again! I have been reading about the way the government are going to handle unemployment, or I should say long term unemployed, people out of work for more than 10 months, which I consider too long, people need real help after 4-5 months that is when people start to see all the savings gone and the mortgage company's start writing nasty letters. The help they are planning to offer it turns out is only going to be for the 18-24 year old age group, now surely that is discrimination and ageism the two things that the government say they fight against.

I do agree we have got to foster a better work ethos in our young people, and they feel that if they put these young people into jobs they will then begin to see that it is better and more rewarding than benefits, part of me thinks it is quite a good idea, but I can see young people being put into jobs that are not suitable for them just so it can be said they are off the benefit scheme, how long will that person last in the wrong job.

What I do feel strongly about is the highly qualified who have seen there jobs disappear, there is very little help for them, no retraining on offer just being told to keep looking, yet these people really want to work they will do anything to avoid losing there homes, but there is no scheme to put them back to work, it is considered that they have the skills to enable change but often employers will not take a person with a lot of skills or experience as they claim that the will leave as soon as another job comes along, yes that may happen, but at this point in time there are hardly any jobs, and there is no upturn as the media keep trying to fool us to believe, very few people would leave a job now if they had been unemployed for several months, maybe the young would as most still live at home, do not have families to support and do not always have the same motivation as some older people, so all I am really saying is that the jobs on offer should be for all and judged on the merit of the people applying for them. I must also say that not all young people are happy on benefits, I have worked with some who are hardworking career builders and they are this country's future.
