I have been attending the Food Festival for the last three years, they seem to get better each year and this year they have 72 stalls so it should be very good. Although the festival runs the week starting on the 9th, I only really managed to get to the last event which is the festival market, to be held this year on the 16th of September.

The Festival Market, I found wonderful, full of exotic aromas filling the air, lots of tasters around to try and many stalls with so many different food stuffs including herbs, cheeses, and breads, along with restaurants serving take away portions of their specialities. The whole feel of the event is vibrant, cultural and uniting the community.
I found it quite sad this week as I was reading the news in the journal that a local councillor felt that reducing the parking charges and free parking on a Sunday would not be enough to help get people back into Salisbury centre. He felt it needed something more inventive, which I agree with, but I also believe that the parking charges are a big issue and would help a lot to regenerating trade within the city centre.
