I received my copy of the Wiltshire Magazine through the door today, inside was my free parking coupon to use in Salisbury the last week of Christmas trading. To call it free is not really correct either as you have to pay for an hour to get an hour free, the bonus being you can use it as much as you want in that week, wow!!
Most people will have finished Christmas shopping long before the 17th December and the very fact it is a flimsy bit of paper means that by Christmas a lot of people will have mislaid it anyway, other people from outside the area will not benefit from this so called offer either as they will not have the voucher. I for one try to avoid the city in the last week of trading as it is too busy to find pleasure shopping.
Yet again I feel very sorry for the shop keepers because this council really is not doing very much to help them at all, simple free parking on the late shopping nights say after 5.00pm would have made an impact. I for one will visit the Christmas market once, and then take my Christmas shopping to places where I will not be paying over the top prices to park.
Such a shame as Salisbury at Christmas often has such a lovely Dickens type feel to it, a wonderful blend of modern and old coming together, we just need the council to support the city.
