Auctioneers win gong for fourth year

THE Salisbury-based fine art auctioneers Woolley and Wallis have been named as the most successful regional auctioneer in the UK for the fourth year running.

The firm’s turnover for 2012 was £14.7million, the highlight of which was a pair of diamond and pearl earrings that sold for £1.6million (including a buyer’s premium).

Auction house chairman Paul Viney said: “This is a tremendous achievement and is a tribute to the hard work, enthusiasm and expertise of all our staff, as well as the loyalty and support of our clients.

“We already have some great lots in the pipeline for 2013 and early indications are that it’s going to be another exciting year.”
