A BUTCHER, a baker and a candlestick maker showed off the real diversity of small businesses in Salisbury.

They were joined by Mary Webb, chair of Salisbury Branch of the Federation of Small Business (FSB), John Glen MP, Salisbury Deputy Mayor Jo Broom, Ceri Hurford Jones from Spire FM and Andrew Hodder from Whitehead-Vizard representing City Centre Management, in the Guildhall Square last week to celebrate Small Business Saturday and the FSB national Keep Trade Local campaign.

Chalet holders at the Christmas market were all enjoying good trading, and the Made in Salisbury chalet saw six local small businesses joining together to show their collection of cards, candles, treats and jewellery.

Alison Herbert, FSB development manager for Somerset and Wiltshire, said: “We are thrilled that John Glen MP and Jo Broom, Deputy Mayor of Salisbury, along with MPs across the Somerset and Wiltshire Region, were able to join the FSB to show their support for local small businesses.

“It is vital that people Keep Trade Local throughout the year and we are grateful that our guest shoppers helped us to spread this message.”

On Saturday, Mrs Webb also went to Wilton to visit FSB members alongside Mayor Phil Matthews and David Parker, chairman of the Wilton Chamber of Trade.
