THE Portway Business Centre at Old Sarum hosted up to 100 delegates in the runup to the opening of the new Stonehenge visitor centre.

English Heritage chose the business centre as the venue for its staff training ahead of the visitor centre opening in December.

The centre offers meeting and training rooms and is used by a variety of companies and organisations for training, staff meetings and conferences.

“Easy parking and a variety of meeting room options have led to a steady increase in meeting room demand,” said centre manager, Amanda Ivens-Smith.

“But English Heritage’s booking for a whole month for up to 100 people was some way beyond what we had done previously.

“Meeting rooms vary from an excellent boardroom to a 60-seater auditorium layout space, and we can lay on full catering facilities if required.

“We are delighted to have played an important part in the training of staff for the new visitor centre.”

Kate Davies, general manager of Stonehenge, added: “In the build-up to the opening of the new visitor centre we significantly increased the number of staff working at Stonehenge.

“We needed a convenient training venue that could accommodate us with adequate parking, transport links and opening hours.

“The Portway Centre was right on our doorstep and it fitted the bill.”
