A DRIVE-through eatery at Solstice Park near Amesbury has created 65 jobs, with another 35 possible later in the year.

To celebrate the opening of the McDonald’s restaurant, Amesbury East councillor John Noeken joined area manager Jacqui Cozens to meet the new staff and take a tour.

Ms Cozens said those employed at the restaurant will have access to training programmes, as well as the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications ranging from adult certificates in maths and English to a foundation degree in managing business operations.

She said: “McDonald’s is keen to ensure steady investment in the area and we’re pleased to be able to provide a significant number of new jobs. Investing in the development of our staff is also important – we want to ensure they have a good learning ladder of opportunities ahead of them to benefit their career but also because it will ultimately help us deliver consistently high levels of customer service.”

Cllr Noeken said: “McDonald’s new restaurant is a great investment in the local economy and I’m delighted that a staggering 65 local jobs are now available, and that more are set to follow.”
