WILTSHIRE was under the microscope when tour operators from all over the UK descended on the county for a business-generating event for local tourism providers.
The Wiltshire Group Buyer’s Showcase took place on March 22 to 24 and was arranged by travel trade specialists Steve Reed Tourism Ltd in conjunction with VisitWiltshire.
About 30 coach and tour operators and group travel organisers stayed at the Holiday Inn Salisbury - Stonehenge for two days of visits to many attractions, destinations and venues across the county.
The group visited the new Stonehenge visitor centre, Stourhead, the Wadworth Brewery and the Wiltshire Museum in Devizes. They also saw Salisbury Cathedral, Arundells and Mompesson House in Salisbury and Amesbury Museum.
“We were very happy to welcome the tour buyers to our county and are pleased that they had a great time seeing and experiencing our top class and iconic attractions,” said David Andrews, chief executive of VisitWiltshire.
“Groups are very important to Wiltshire’s tourism economy, bringing their all important spending power to many businesses throughout the year.”
Marc Solarz, general manager of the Holiday Inn Hotel, added: “The VIP guests found that our hotel is perfectly positioned to provide a marvellous base from which to tour some of the outstanding attractions here in Wiltshire, not least the amazing new Stonehenge visitor centre.”
