A FORMER pupil of Salisbury’s Godolphin School has designed a special teat that allows babies with cleft palates to be breastfed.
And the product designed by Angela Brownsey, 21, for her final year project at Brunel University was selected for a prestigious exhibition held on London’s South Bank.
Miss Brownsey, who herself had a cleft palate at birth, said: “One of the issues is that most such babies can’t breastfeed and have to be bottle fed using a specially designed teat with mothers expressing their own milk.
“My design allows such mums to breastfeed, helping bonding and reducing the hassle involved in bottle feeding even if it is with a mother’s own milk.”
The Made in Brunel Exhibition ran from June 12 to 15 inclusive, at the Barge House, Oxo Tower Wharf.
