AN event to encourage schoolgirls to think about a career in engineering was held at South Wilts Grammar School.
Year 8 girls from South Wilts, St Edmund’s and Wellington Academy took part in a range of hands-on activities including finding the best way of protecting an egg.
There was also a networking activity, giving the girls the opportunity to speak to engineers about their jobs, and find out more about career choices and pathways into engineering.
The event was held to celebrate National Women in Engineering Day last month.
The inaugural event was organised by the Women’s Engineering Society, which this year celebrated its 95th anniversary as a charity supporting women in the industry.
