A COLOUR measurement and water analysis company in Wiltshire has successfully claimed tens of thousands of pounds in research and development (R&D) tax relief following professional advice.

The south coast office of Smith & Williamson, the accountancy and investment management group, highlighted that Amesbury-based The Tintometer Limited was eligible for the rebate because the firm is developing improved manufacturing processes and new products.

For more than 125 years the company – home to the Lovibond brand – has focused on innovation in colour measurement and water testing and continues to set new standards in the markets and instrumentation development.

Paul Duckworth, a tax partner for Smith & Williamson in Southampton, said: “Tintometer is a world leader in its fields and is constantly involved in challenging technological developments in the industry, using and improving new products and materials.

“This work qualifies the company for the enhanced R&D tax relief, which is actively supported by the Government.”

In this particular example, tens of thousands of pounds were saved by working with Mr Duckworth to help identify the areas of its research that qualifies for the enhanced relief.

More than 80 per cent of sales are exported internationally by the company, which employs 65 people at its headquarters at Solstice Park.
