MEMBERS of a women’s networking group have raised £500 for the Salisbury Samaritans.
Celebrating a decade of supporting women in business, the networking group Women on Wednesday was delighted to be able to hand over the funds to the charity.
Director of Salisbury Samaritans, Bev de Cuevas said: “This is an amazing sum. “With Salisbury branch needing to raise £25,550 (£70 per day) each year to remain open, and with no official funding, this donation is very significant. “It will effectively keep the office open for two weeks in which time we will deal with, on average, 630 significant calls – where callers are experiencing distress and despair.”
Women on Wednesday, which is managed by Lindsey Brown, owner of LBB Business Solutions, and Karen Janes, of Natural Healing Energy, has been supporting the Salisbury Samaritans since 2011.
Ms Brown said: “Karen and I are privileged to be involved with such a strong and vibrant group and enjoy every minute of our involvement.”
Women on Wednesday meet every third Wednesday of the month.
