A HELP to Buy roadshow came to Salisbury to help answer questions and inspire people who are on the hunt for property.

The latest official figures show that 469 equity loans have been agreed across Wiltshire following the launch of the Help To Buy initiative in April 2013.

The scheme offers financial support for people looking to purchase new-build homes worth up to £600,000 and is run on behalf of the Government by Radian.

Tim Willcocks, Radian's head of home ownership, said: "It’s brilliant news that hundreds of people have taken advantage of the Help to Buy Equity Loan to secure a place to live in Wiltshire. As well as helping people buy homes, it’s generated new building, investment and jobs.

“At our shows we want to help even more people do the same, as well as guiding others who want to take a different route to finding a home, whether through renting or shared ownership options.”

Help to Buy Equity Loan offers up to 20 per cent of the value of a home.

The buyer must provide a cash deposit of at least five per cent and a main mortgage lender must provide a loan of at least 75 per cent of the property’s value.
