THE BOSS of Porton Down-based Enigma Diagnostics, which announced a £30million plus deal with China last week, says it means new jobs at the company.

The deal also secures the next stage of the company’s development as its global reputation is enhanced.

Enigma Diagnostics, which operates on the Tetricus Science Park, is a world-leader in equipment used to identify infectious diseases. It says the Chinese deal will deliver a leading edge diagnostic system for use in the huge Chinese health market.

Now Enigma’s Chairman and Chief Executive John McKinley, has confirmed to The Journal that the deal will mean a significant jobs expansion at Porton Down.

Mr McKinley said: “We are now expanding our UK staffing with new recruitment for our research and development, quality, regulatory engineering and design departments and we will build new commercial and product support activities.”

At Porton Down the company already has 36 staff but Mr McKinley said this would grow considerably next year.
