A NEW scheme that aims to help businesses support each other has been launched in Hampshire.

The Hampshire Project, a business networking organisation, was established at a ceremony that also saw the inauguration of its first group in the county.

Organisers are hoping to launch at least 15 other self-help groups across the county.

The Hampshire Project is based on a similar scheme to one that was launched in Oxfordshire two years ago.

It was so successful, it is now being rolled out across the UK.

The director Susan Hayward said: “We are based on inclusiveness and collaboration.

“Inclusiveness means we’re open to having more than one representative of any trade or profession.

“For instance we could have two accountants, one of whom is really good at tax while the other is an expert in book keeping.

“Collaboration means our members work together, focusing on their Unique Selling Proposition (USP) – the thing they’re really good at.

“In Oxfordshire there are 12 photographers included in the group.

“Collaboration among them has enabled those who prefer not doing weddings to refer the work to those who do.”

Susan added: “We help local businesses to support each other as well as providing them with knowledge and opportunity.

“We also get the public to support the businesses, buying local wherever possible and thereby helping local businesses to expand.”
