INSTITUTE of Financial Accountants (IFA) members in Hampshire and Dorset will be voting next month on plans to amalgamate with an Australian professional body.

A meeting was held on Tuesday, at the Marwell Hotel, Winchester to discuss the plans.

The planned amalgamation of the nearly 100-year-old professional body with Australia’s Institute of Public Accountants could create the world’s biggest accountancy organisation which is focused solely on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), representing 35,000 members and students.

The planned amalgamation is subject to approval by over 50 per cent of the IFA members that are eligible to vote.

Votes will be cast either by proxy or in person at a special general meeting on December 16.
