FLUTTERY peepers are synonymous with sex appeal – just think Brigitte Bardot or Audrey Hepburn.

And those iconic lashes are not going out of fashion anytime soon – they make the plainest of us pretty.

So, if you are looking to make an eye-popping impression, park your peepers on the couch at the newly opened Lash Bar on Brown Street in Salisbury, the city’s first salon specialising in eyelash extensions.

Laurie Sammons has worked in the lash industry for many years since she was trained by DH Francis, the renowned eyelash guru.

Along with individual eyelash extensions, the Lash Bar offers Mink Feel eyelash extensions, which offer softer and more natural-looking lashes.

I have been addicted to eyelash extensions for the last five years so when Laurie offered me a set of Mink Feel lashes I was at the Lash Bar in a blink of the eye.

Laurie said: “Mink Feel lashes are super soft and very light, perfect for very fine, sparse natural lashes as they don't weigh them down.

“But you can also build them up to be a bit thicker.

“These can also last a bit longer. I tend to find that once people have mink they never go back.

“I love the fact that wearing extensions minimises your make up routine and that a lot of clients end up wearing even less makeup than usual and would even venture out of the house wearing only their lashes when they wouldn't before.

“And eyelash extensions are great for any occasion as you can gym and swim etc without the lashes being damaged.”

“The thing to remember with lash extensions is that it is vital that they are done properly.

“The right application is crucial to a good set and bad application can damage the natural lashes.

“You shouldn't really be able to feel them on and they certainly shouldn't irritate or pull at your eyes.”

After I snoozed on the warm couch in the cosy but decadent salon for just over an hour, I woke up to find that my eyes looked bigger and brighter and most definitely sexier.

I have had several types of extensions over the last few years, but what struck me was the softness of the Mink Feel lashes. And more importantly these long and thick set of lashes looked like my own.

Laurie added: “I’m thrilled to be opening up in Salisbury.

“Independent local businesses are at the heart of what Salisbury has to offer and it’s exciting for me to be a part of that.”

Other services at the Lash Bar include express lashes, which can be done in 20 minutes, along with spray tanning and threading. Anyone wanting an appointment can ring Laurie at the Lash Bar on 01722 331807 or email laurie@thelashbarsalisbury.co.
