A NUMBER of partners across the city are coming together to produce a brand for Salisbury which they can use on joint ventures.

It comes after VisitWiltshire unveiled their Timeless brand earlier this year.

Salisbury City Council agreed to contribute £3,000 towards the project which is also supported by VisitWiltshire, Salisbury BID, Wiltshire Council, Federation of Small Businesses and the Chamber of Commerce.

Chairman of the Salisbury BID, Amanda Newbery, said: “It is not the money we are after but the partnership.

“We are looking to get a brand for Salisbury so any time we have joint events we can use the same brand.”

Some of the councillors had reservations about the money being spent on the BID but it was resolved to contribute towards the project.

It comes after VisitWiltshire launched a national marketing campaign under a theme of Press Pause.

The campaign features Wiltshire’s gardens, events and festivals, spas, accommodation, attractions and activities.

The campaign aims to attract 3,000 additional staying visitors and generate over £700,000 in additional visitor spending.

Fiona Errington, marketing manager said: “We’ve had fantastic support from our Wiltshire partners, many of whom were involved in our brand positioning consultation process. We are confident that this, alongside other activity, will help in achieving yet another record year for visitor numbers to Wiltshire.”

Marketing activity includes a range of digital, social media, print and PR. There are 120,000 A4 leaflets distributed via the Daily Telegraph and Daily Mail to geo-targeted areas.

A consumer e-newsletter will go out to over 52,000 people plus there will be digital display adverts and social media engagement including a competition to win a short break to Wiltshire.

“14 product partners are taking part, with Longleat as the lead sponsor amongst other partners offering a great day out. Town partner Corsham, walking holiday specialist Foot Trails and transport partners Vintage Classics have all been keen to participate. Accommodation partners include holiday cottage specialist Hideaways and Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort,” added Fiona.
