A NEW shop dedicated to celebrating the great outdoors in style has opened in Wilton.

Selling everything from collapsible kettles and towels to spaceship teepees and slingshots, Tinder & Tide opened in Wilton Shopping Village on May 8.

Owner Nicola Lyle, who lives in Andover, said the business had been running online for two years before she decided to open the shop.

She said: “Our products are the type that people like to touch and feel and being here gives us the opportunity for passing footfall.

“It was a sheer fluke coming across the shopping village – my husband happened to call in on his journey back from work and told me, saying: ‘I think you’ll love it’.

“I really like the feel of it – the courtyard has a great variety of independent retailers and there’s a really nice café and park for children.

“Everyone has been really positive about my arrival.”

Before starting Tinder & Tide, Nicola worked in the drinks industry heading up the wine and champagne customer marketing team for Pernod Ricard and says her experience dealing with retailers helped her to understand the types of products shoppers are looking for.

“We’ve been open for six weeks now and the feedback from customers has been great – they love how bright and colourful everything is and the variety of lovely products,” she said.

“I am also a stockist for Joules clothing for men, women and children.

“We have Anorak products as well and have just started click and collect.

“It’s about encouraging everyone to love the outdoors – we look for very practical, functional and attractive items for both adults and children.”
