A BUILDING site manager has cemented a place at the top of his trade by scooping an industry award for his team’s work.

Peter O’Connor, site manager at McCarthy and Stone’s Queen Eleanor Court retirement development in Amesbury, has won a National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job award.

He overcame 15,000 rivals to be crowned one of the UK’s best site managers.

Queen Eleanor Court was chosen as one of the overall winners after a year of judging and spot checks, because of its high standards.

Peter, who has been with McCarthy and Stone for over a year, will now go forward to a regional competition this autumn.

He said: “I am extremely honoured to have received this accolade. I work alongside a tireless team who are committed to delivering high quality developments. We take great pride in the work that we do and I am pleased that this award has recognised all our efforts at Queen Eleanor Court.”

Shane Paull, regional managing director at McCarthy and Stone, added: “I am delighted that Peter’s work has been recognised by the NHBC – it’s a major achievement for any site manager.

“The popularity of Queen Eleanor Court is testament to the fantastic work that has been achieved by the team responsible for this site."

“We are proud of the superior standard of all our developments and the high-quality build that our homeowners have come to expect.”
