NEW arrivals to the Old George Mall have given Salisbury a boost — creating more than 20 new jobs.

The jobs have been created by jewellery store Pandora, which opened its doors on Saturday, and kitchenware retailer Lakeland, which also recently began trading.

The latest openings follow several other arrivals including jewellers Warren James, Schuh and coffee shop Pret A Manger recently started trading while in the last 18 months H&M, Nationwide Building Society, Card Factory have also taken units.

Old George Mall centre manager Jon Osgood said: “We have seen several major new openings and we have keen interest from at least one other international retailer.

“That and planned major refits for existing tenants add up to a vote of confidence in the town and the Old George Mall.

“Salisbury is a destination city that people want to come and visit and one that has a rich and varied retail offer and the arrival of new businesses here at the mall has to be good news for Salisbury and for its city centre and we’re pleased to have played our part by investing in our retail infrastructure.

Karli Smith, the manager of new arrival Warren James jewellers, which has created four full-time jobs at the mall, said: “It’s been very positive and we’ve had some very busy days.

“We’re known now and we have people coming back to us time and time again so business is growing and we’re looking for part-time staff.”
