THE clean-up operation has begun following a spate of graffiti in the city.

Since the start of the year more than 250 graffiti tags have been sprayed in the city and surrounding areas.

Last week city ranger Andy Milton helped to get rid of graffiti spray-painted onto the Chapter House by repainting part of the side wall of the pub.

Chapter House owner Janine Hunter said: "We were particularly upset to find that we had been targeted and had been the victim of vandalism to the side of our building.

"Not only is this an expensive problem but it is very off putting for customers as they enter our pub and restaurant.

"We were delighted when Andy responded so quickly and said the BID would be pleased to work on the graffiti and see whether they could remove it on our behalf as a service to us as a levy-payer."

The BID estimated the graffiti damage to the pub was around £300.
