A BUILDING in the heart of Salisbury city centre sparked a bidding war as it went under the auctioneer’s hammer.

The four-storey premises at 50 High Street fetched £400,000 and was among lots sold by property auctioneers Clive Emson.

Auctioneer Rob Marchant said: “We anticipated keen interest from property investors in this prominent corner building, which is close to Salisbury Cathedral and has two separate commercial leases in relation to a shop and offices above.

“There was a bidding war in the sales room, with the gavel coming down on a final bid of £400,000, which was £130,000 more than the guide price.”

Tenants in the building will are unaffected by the freehold sale.
