BUSINESSMEN and women have a host of events to attend this month, starting with an awards ceremony this evening.
The South Wilts Business of the Year awards 2008 will be handed out at the Arts Centre in Salisbury and more than 200 people are expected to attend, including Mayor of Salisbury, Iris Evans and Salisbury MP, Robert Key.
There are two gatherings for women in business: Women on Wednesday at the White Hart Hotel in Salisbury on July 16 and Ellevate at the Antrobus Hotel in Amesbury on July 25.
Janet Warner of TABS Training is guest speaker at Women on Wednesday and she will be explaining how government programmes Train to Gain and Learndirect can help businesses.
Ellevate welcomes public relations and advertising specialist Sue Landon, who will talk about CRM, Customer - or Client - Relationship Management.
Salisbury and District Chamber of Commerce & Industry is hosting two functions: a networking breakfast on July 17 and a hog roast on July 25.
The venue for both events is the Rose & Crown Hotel in Harnham.
The breakfast will include an announcement by chamber president Ian Hudson and a seminar on effective marketing growth given by Peter Greensmith of Greensmith and MacLeod. The hog roast is a joint venture between the chamber, Salisbury City Centre Management and the Federation of Small Businesses.
Food and drinks will be available, and a raffle to raise money for the city's Christmas lights.
Another seminar is being held in Salisbury on July 17, entitled 7 Steps to Building a Competitive Business.
A collaboration between Salisbury City Centre Management, the Chartered Management Institute, and Simon Mathias, the seminar takes place at the White Hart Hotel. It will be presented by Peter Czapp of the Wow Company.
Simon Mathias and Lindsey Brown of City Centre Management are members of the Institute and keen to see training for CMI members in the area.
Wiltshire Rural Business Club meets on July 22 at the Ginger Piggery in Boyton, near Codford.
The meeting takes the form of a social event and there will be a barbecue and tour of the farm, including a tractor and trailer ride and walk with the pigs.
