After four months in operation, S’bury Coffee in Cross Keys Shopping Centre has shut its doors for good.

S’bury Coffee opened on October 16 of last year, hiring seven college and sixth form pupils from Salisbury to serve “eco-friendly” coffee drinks made with beans from Carbon Neutral Drinks of Shaftesbury.

Owner Josh Hollands, 28, told the Journal at the time: "Cross Keys wanted to have a coffee shop in the middle but I have always wanted a shop.

"When we got the opportunity to open in the shopping centre we thought it would be a nice place."

On Tuesday, February 20, Josh released a statement on the business’s Facebook page that the café would close its doors “with immediate effect”.

He thanked customers for their support and reminded patrons that the coffee is still available through other branches of his company—The Southern Coffee Company—such as the “usual places” of the B’mth Coffee trailer and online at Wimborne Coffee Roasters.

Josh said: “We are saddened to have made this difficult decision, however this is what we needed to do to keep the rest of our business able to trade.”

Josh told the Journal that at S’bury Coffee, the “takings were too low to justify continue trading”.
