STAFF are set to lose their jobs as the closing date of a city centre cosmetics shop has been confirmed.

The Body Shop, in the Old George Mall, will close its doors for the final time on Wednesday, March 20.

This closure comes after it was announced that 75 stores across the country would be axed in a bid to keep the company alive.

A total of 489 people will be losing their jobs as a result of the closures, which Salisbury is included in.

Aurelius appointed the accounting firm FRP Advisory as the administrator following concerns over the business's future.

Administrators said closures will take place over the next four to six weeks as part of a heavy restructuring.

The retail firm will be left with 116 stores across the UK.

Reacting the closure, Salisbury resident Annabel Farmer, 53, previously told the Journal it would be a "terrible loss" as the shop's staff "go the extra mile".

“The UK business continues to trade in administration, and we remain fully focused on exploring all options to take the business forward.”
