Profiting from sustainability

WESSEX Association of Chambers of Commerce is launching a new network for Wiltshire businesses to help them profit from sustainability.
The Wessex Sustainable Business Network (WSBN) is the successor to the well-established and highlysuccessful Wessex Environmental Business Network, which has, for the past ten years, been providing direct support on environmental issues to hundreds of business across the region.
The new direction for the network reflects the broader demands that today’s businesses are expected to deal with.
Environmental sustainability will still be very much on the agenda. In addition the network’s activities will focus on issues surrounding social and economic sustainability, both areas of increasing importance and urgency for local businesses and the communities where they operate.
Carole Bond, chairman of the new network, said: “We believe businesses which embrace sustainability are the businesses of the future. Again and again we see examples of how such businesses are doing well by doing good. If sustainability is the new engine for growth, the network wants to help our own region’s businesses to be at the forefront of those growth opportunities.”
