Glenside hospital to expand service
11:37am Thursday 6th September 2012 in Business By Morwenna Blake
Glenside Manor at South Newton.
NEW services launched at a Salisbury hospital expand the range of care it can offer, as well as creating between 30 and 35 new jobs.
Glenside, which cares for people with acute and longerterm neurological conditions, opened a new hospital ward as well as a nursed residential service at its site in South Newton at the end of last week.
Kennet Ward provides an eight-bed neuro-rehabilitation service, with rehabilitation for adults recovering from a range of neurological conditions, including acquired or traumatic brain injuries, and organically induced conditions.
Langford Ward offers an extension to the established Pembroke Lodge service at Glenside Salisbury, supporting those with disorders of consciousness, including those in a persistent vegetative state, those who are minimally conscious, and those with locked-in syndrome.
David Cole, executive chairman at Glenside, said: “The development of these new services is a reflection of the high demand for the specialist care and support Glenside provides.
“We are continuing to invest in Glenside Salisbury as part of our commitment to providing the best possible service for individuals with long-standing neurological conditions, and their families.”
Both wards will welcome visits from individuals, families, carers, clinicians, case managers and commissioners.
