Thousands raised for Help for Heroes
5:04pm Wednesday 19th September 2012 in Business By Morwenna Blake
A FUNERAL director has thanked local residents for their support and generosity in raising £3,700 in just one month for Help for Heroes.
Chris White Funeral Directors, in South Street, Wilton held a number of activities at its branch in July to raise both funds and awareness of the charity.
As well as hosting coffee mornings, the branch donated £100 for every person who took out a prepaid funeral plan across the month.
The charity initiative is just one of many that the funeral directors hold every month for local charities.
Rebecca Perry, senior funeral director at Chris White Funeral Directors, said: “It’s a great achievement to have raised £3,700 for a worthwhile charity such as Help for Heroes, which helps so many people who gave so much to our country.
With such a strong military heritage in the area, it’s a charity which is close to the heart of many local residents.”
Each year the team at Chris White identify local and national charities to support. Help for Heroes was chosen for the wide range of support it offers locally to servicemen and women, as well as their carers and families.
“We keep hearing that money is tight for many people but it seems we can always rely on the residents of Salisbury to put their hand in their pockets to support those less fortunate than themselves. We would like to extend our thanks to all who took the time to donate.”
