Commercial Waste Survey

The president of Salisbury & District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ian Hudson, wants members to join him in campaigning on the issues that matter and he is starting with rubbish.
He said that whereas householders had the county council as its waste disposal authority and the district council as its waste collection authority, businesses were able to elect whom they wanted to collect their waste.
"For businesses it is an open market, which is right because it encourages competition and keeps prices down, but it stops there - businesses pay for waste to be disposed of, not to be recycled.
"And as businesses, we are not allowed to use domestic recycling facilities, so there's a massive gap in the system.
"We are doing well with domestic waste recycling in the UK, but lagging behind on commercial waste."
Mr Hudson is asking chamber members to complete the questionnaire below to identify the composition of commercial waste and the easiest method for dealing with it.
"What i would like to see is a coherent targeted debate between the business community and local authorities, with the aim of forming a strategy to be put in force by the middle of next year, dealing with the bulk of recycled waste from commercial premises," he said.
