PUPILS in Year 5 at Leehurst Swan went on a visit to Romsey Abbey and King John's House, Romsey.

At the abbey they saw the document which granted the abbey to the town in exchange for £100 at the time of the dissolution of the monasteries by King Henry VIII. They also saw the Saxon foundations, Norman design and later additions and looked at the font, pulpit, altar and Christian symbolism.

At King John's House pupils enjoyed taking part in a Tudor feast, playing traditional games, looking at herbs and the layout of an Elizabethan garden, and also took part in activities such as printing and Tudor writing.
