Record number of children gain secondary places of choice

A RECORD 96 per cent of children have secured a place at their first choice secondary school this year, according to Wiltshire Council.

About 4,400 children in the county will be starting secondary school in September and letters are being sent out on March 1 to those who applied for places.

Lionel Grundy, the council’s cabinet member for children services said: “This is an important time for children and their parents and to be able to provide so many with their first choice of secondary school is particularly good news.”

The right to an independent appeal is open to anyone who has been refused a place at one of their preferred schools. Details of how to appeal can be obtained by calling the council on 01225 713010.
