HOCKEY players from Chafyn Grove School in Salisbury have been crowned national champions.

The Under 13 boys team were victorious at the finals of the Independent Prep Schools Championships held at Millfield School on Thursday.

The team had won through the regional competitions to represent the South West Region in the National Finals, where they played schools from all ends of the country. They beat Cheltenham in the quarter finals, Brandeston Hall in the semis and went on to defeat Greshams in the final.

This went all the way to extra time when Chafyn were the first to score a ‘golden goal’. Barney Humphrey, the team captain, had an exceptional tournament, scoring 13 goals to lead his team to victory.

They then proudly received the trophy from GB hockey player Simon Mantell.
