GCSE 2013 Round-up: Eastleigh

THEY were leaping with joy at Crestwood College as hardworking students enjoyed a double celebration.
Teenagers not only returned the best results ever at the Eastleigh school – they helped deliver a ‘good’ grading in the latest Ofsted inspection.
A record 80 per cent achieved five A* to C grades while 56 per cent achieved the same but with English and maths included – up 11 per cent on last year.
Top achievers included Emma Hibbes and Kris Vasili, pictured inset, who notched up 15 GCSEs with a glittering array of A and A* grades.
Head teacher Krista Dawkins said: “This is a real achievement for all of us at Crestwood.”
Head teacher Matthew Longden said: “The results are real testament to all of the hard work of the students and staff and the support of our wonderful parents.”
Ria Allan, head teacher at Brookfield Community College in Sarisbury Green said she was “thrilled” with results as 70 per cent achieved five A* to C with maths and English.
Wyvern College in Fair Oak celebrated yet another year of success as students notched up an impressive 80 per cent of their number achieving at least five GCSE grades A* to C, which is a small improvement from last year’s 79 per cent.
Hamble Community Sports College celebrated a successful set of GCSE results with 75 per cent of students gaining five high GCSE passes The percentage of students who gained 5 or more A*-C grades including English and mathematics increased seven per cent on last year at 49.5 per cent.
