POST-16 academic performances are improving at The Wellington Academy as record numbers head to university.
The academy, the state boarding school sponsored by Wellington College, has improved its academic performance this year. The academy is sending a record 49 students to university, which is 70 per cent of the sixth form.
Six students will be going to Russell Group universities, compared with two last year.
A level, AS level and BTEC results at the academy are up on 2013, with significant gains in many areas. The number achieving A*-C at A level is 58 per cent, an increase on 2013, and 100 per cent achieved A*-E at A2. The school secured a 100 per cent pass rate for BTEC, an impressive 72 per cent of these with Distinction*.
Principal Dr Michael Milner said: "These results demonstrate the potential there is at the academy, not just at A and AS levels, but in applied subjects studied at BTEC.”
