Wiltshire College’s Salisbury campus is holding the first open evening of the academic year on Thursday October 9, giving students the opportunity to “have a go” at a range of activities and interactive workshops and get a taste of life at college.

The raising of the participation age means that all students now have to stay in education or training until the age of 18 and this event provides students in Salisbury and the surrounding areas with a chance to explore their options before making the important decision of what to do after they finish their GCSEs.

At Wiltshire College there is something for everyone who wants to learn and develop their skills and students will benefit from the experience of industry-trained staff, learn in realistic working environments within excellent facilities and have access to comprehensive support services. The diverse course offer spans Foundation Learning all the way up to full honours degree programmes in partnership with a number of universities including the University of Bath and the Royal Agricultural University. Wiltshire College is also a major provider of apprenticeship programmes working closely with well-known employers around the region.

Subjects on offer include accounting, art and design, beauty therapy, carpentry and joinery, catering, childcare, electrical, fashion, games development, hairdressing, health and social care, IT, motor vehicle maintenance, music, performing arts, plumbing, public services, sport, travel and tourism and television and film production.

As well as getting hands-on in a range of subjects, the open event on October 9th gives visitors the chance to explore the campus, meet course tutors and talk to current students about student life and their experiences at Wiltshire College.
