Hello everyone and welcome to the Journal Gang page.

It was nice to see so many children wearing poppies for Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day earlier this week.

Even though the first and second world wars happened a long time ago it is very important that we still remember the soldiers who fought in them and Remembrance events also give us a chance to say “thank you” to the brave soldiers who serve in the armed forces today.

Buying a poppy helps to raise money for the Royal British Legion and by wearing it you are showing your support for this very important charity that helps soldiers and their families.

Here’s a lovely picture of the runner-up in the Lakeland baking competition, Jessica Edmunds.

She created this rhubarb windows cake that looked incredible when it was sliced, and I’m sure it tasted delicious too.

Well done, Jessica. I hope you’re enjoying creating more cakes with your I Can Cook baking prizes.

This week I have tickets to see the fantastic show Oliver!

to give away, and we’re meeting a very talented young writer who has won a competition.

See you next week,

Jill
