HI everyone and welcome to the Journal Gang. There are only a few days to go until the holidays begin and the countdown to the summer break is under way.
I know that lots of you will be playing outside with your friends in the weeks ahead and my friends at Southern Electric have asked me to pass on the following advice to make sure you stay safe around electricity which is highly dangerous.
Don't fly a kite, climb a tree, or carry long objects like fishing rods anywhere near powerlines and stay well clear of any fallen powerlines as they could still hurt you, If you kick a football into an electricity substation don't go and fetch it - ask an adult to call the electricity company - you will not get into trouble and the engineers will get the ball out safely.
It is much better to play in areas where there are no electricity wires, pylons or substations and, that way, you should have a fun and safe summer. This week we are under starters' orders for the summer reading challenge at Salisbury Library and we'll be finding out how you can be part of this year's reading race.
Here's a picture of Sophie Adams who won these Let's Go Guides. Well done Sophie and I hope they give you lots of ideas.
I'll be back next week,
Jill
