Enchanting tale at art centre

First published in Entertainments

AN adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Nightingale will be at the Salisbury Arts Centre on Sunday.

The story, adapted for the stage by the award-winning Horse and Bamboo Theatre, is told through a blend of masks, puppetry, animation and original music. It tells the story of a selfish king who replaces his melodic songbird with an all mod-cons mechanical gizmo then wonders if something is missing from his life.

The show is suitable for children aged four and over, and their family and friends. There will also be a chance to meet the puppets after the performance.

The Nightingale is at 11.30am and 2.30pm. Tickets cost £7.50 (£6.50 concessions) and £24 for a family of four.
