STUDIO Theatre in Ashley Road, Salisbury has picked up two awards at a ceremony celebrating the very best in amateur theatre across the south.

Emily Prince won Best Actress in a Shakespeare Play for her performance as Isabella in Measure for Measure while the theatre’s production of The Turn of the Screw won Best Set and Props.

Dubbed the ‘Oscars of the south’, the Daily Echo’s annual Curtain Call Awards took place at the De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel in Southampton on January 25.

More than 400 performers, supporters and crew dressed in their finest for the occasion, which saw the Studio Theatre group, along with three other amateur groups, perform excerpts from their popular shows for the audience.
