SUSIE Blake, whose television appearances include Coronation Street, Mrs Brown’s Boys and Wild at Heart, is appearing in the stage adaptation of Laurie Lee’s classic novel, Cider With Rosie, at Salisbury Playhouse for one week only from April 9 to 13.

This beautifully touching story recounts the defining moments of the author’s adolescent life in rural Gloucestershire between the First and Second World Wars.

Directed by Paul Milton, with Laurie Lee played by Richard Derrington, Cider With Rosie tells of glorious outings, tyrannical teachers, erratic family life and, of course, that first cider-fuelled encounter.

As well as her television appearances, Susie Blake has had an extensive career in theatre, including Pygmalion at Chichester Festival Theatre, Wicked in the West End and Noises Off at the National Theatre.

Completing the cast are Dougie Carter, Rachel Dawson, Charlie Hamblett, Simon Kent, Madeleine MacMahon, Tristan Pate and Nicola Sangster.

Presented by The Everyman Theatre Cheltenham, Cider With Rosie is part of Theatre Fest West.
