MADNESS front man Suggs, comedians Julian Clary, Andy Parsons and Jason Manford, and rock band Enter Shikari are all part of the star-studded lineup coming to Salisbury’s City Hall.

The new schedule of events was unveiled on Tuesday and also includes performances by comedy illusionists Barry and Stuart, the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, Moscow Ballet and guitarist Eric Johnson.

Tribute acts always prove popular at the City Hall and Jackson, One Night of Queen and the Solid Silver 60s show are appearing this spring.

For children, Shakespeare for Kids is performing The Tempest and youngsters will have the chance to learn more about science and attempt to set new records with the Guinness World Records live show.

The venue will also be used by local performers Salisbury Symphony Orchestra, Salisbury Area Young Musicians and Musical Theatre Salisbury with its production of Anything Goes.

And party-goers are already snapping up tickets and digging out their greatest 80s gear for the return of the Big 80s Night featuring music by Salisbury band The Deloreons.

Speaking at Tuesday’s launch event, City Hall general manager Phill Smith said: “During the autumn and winter season we had an unprecedented number of sold out shows.

“This is a great success in these difficult times.

“We have been offering live entertainment for 50 years.

“It is a pleasure to provide that live experience at a time when it is all too easy to stay in and get entertainment on screens at home.

“The City Hall is proud to have been serving the community for 50 years and more events will be announced throughout the year.”

Fronting the latest programme is Suggs, who tells his entertaining life story in words and song.

“This is a performer who has spent 214 weeks in the UK singles chart, and who can forget him performing outside Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee or in the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games?” said Mr Smith.

“This promises to be a tour de force for the city hall.”

A programme of the upcoming shows is available from the City Hall or from the website cityhallsalisbury.co.uk.
